Roger's Award above.
Last night the Salem Common Neighborhood Association had their annual meeting in the Essex Room of the Hawthorne Hotel. The Hotel is a participating member of the association, and we could not ask for nicer neighbors to be involved with. The SCNA is always doing things to make our part of Salem a better place!

During the meeting they awarded a number of "Roger's" awards in gratitude and recognition of members and people in the community who have helped them in their good works. This was the first year for the "Roger's" awards, but evidently won't be the last! The award was topped with a replica of the Roger Conant statue which anchors this end of the Common. "Roger" has been the beneficiary of the ministrations of the Common Association in the past.
Ted Kobialka was recognized for just being a great neighbor and help to many.
Tom O'Donnell was thanked for always being front and center with donations whenever the SCNA comes knocking.
Pat Curtin was thanked by Maryann Curtin for his countless hours of work on the Salem Common park issues.
Biff Michaud congratulated by Kristine Doll for his years of support to the group.
In creating these awards, the SCNA went to Bernard's Jewelers for assistance. Bernard's was astonished to learn that all of the things that the SCNA does for the Common were not being done by the City of Salem. He assumed, as do many people, that the City put up the holiday decor, etc. when in fact it is the SCNA that does all that.
I thought I would recognize this fact, because you, fair blog reader, may also make the same erroneous assumption.
So let's all thank the SCNA for what they do to make Salem a better place to live!
