Doughnuts, Anyone?

I don't know about you, but I adore a good doughnut for breakfast. It's not something I make a habit of, but once in awhile...

Isn't this a great old photo?

What's your favorite kind of doughnut? I think I like them all, although a glazed maple bar is at the top!

My Latest Prize.

I just had to share one of my latest acquisitions with you; a 1920s silverplated trophy for cake decoration from the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco! This is what it reads:

GREETER'S DAY

DECORATED CAKE CONTEST

CALIFORNIA INDUSTRIES EXPOSITION

1924

FIRST PRIZE

ST. FRANCIS HOTEL

CHAS. R. STRANDBERG

PASTRY CHEF.

Isn't this the cutest? I'm not sure if this is a keeper or a seller. Just that fact that it's from one of my favorite hotels and for a cake contest, it's one of the sweetest trophies I've ever seen.

Just had to share...

Oh, Yum!

What about a donut cake? Doesn't it look yummy? I know, I know... it's for a little girl's birthday party, BUT I love donuts, love the whole idea, and just had to share!

How about starting off March with a powdered donut, eh?

Maison Bouche (literally translated as "house of the mouth") is named after the sumptuous kitchens at Versailles, and based here in the Bay Area. Maison Bouche's packaging is as divine as the scrumptious taste of their confections.

Summertime...

If I could escape the fog of San Francisco,

I'd take a long nap right in the middle of a warm beach...

Perhaps I'd hide out in a vintage caravan and have a fancy English breakfast...

or a pink Gypsy Caravan...

I'd invite all of you to a party delivered by Enjoy Cupcakes, and
have treats served to us out of their adorable restored vintage Shasta trailer...

Then we could pay a visit to Fresher Than Fresh Sno Cones in Kansas City for some yummy flavored snow cones such as watermelon basil, lime mint and ginger rose. All served out of their renovated 1957 Shasta trailer.

Ah... it's beginning to feel like Summer...

How about climbing up in a tree house?

Bedtime in the forest...so warm and comfy...

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Jeweled Macarons Anyone?

The Caketress, a boutique cake company based in Canada, created an exclusive dessert bar shoot for New York-based event planner, Amy Atlas. I nearly flipped when I saw Amy's blog post this morning. {I've definitely been in "sweet tooth" land lately!}

This all grey and white chic dessert bar also included pearls and lace; lace wrapped pumpkin cupcakes, macarons, malted chocolate pearls, and licorice white cotton candy! Oh my!

Click here to read the entire post and view the rest of the photos. Divine!

American Cupcake, please have a seat...

Am I dreaming?

Yesterday was one of those days that I wish I had my "real" camera and not my cell phone camera! I'm strolling down Union Street in San Francisco and staring at me through the window are rows and rows of whimsical cupcakes. Welcome to American Cupcake.

Are you kidding? Bubble gum, pixie stix and cotton candy cupcakes? I'm in!

Wait, is this a disco? No, it's a restaurant/dessert lounge. White patent leather banquettes and colored “gumball” lights create a Willy Wonka-meets-modern soda fountain effect.

This place is not just for kids. They serve candy cocktails and have an extensive beer and wine menu. How about a single cupcake and wine pairing?

And they have a full menu of "real food" like BBQ chicken sandwiches, tuna melts, cheese plates and more from chef Carina Lampkin.

These cotton candy cupcakes send me over the top! These pretty blue babies have little cotton candy "pops" on them!

Remember Pixie Stix when you were growing up? How about cupcakes dusted with Pixie Stix?

19 cupcake flavors.
8 peanut butter & jelly options.
13 candy cocktail selections.
16 item savory menu.
candy apples, whoopie pies, fried oreos.

Just how fun is this?

They even cater to our four-legged friends...

Although I haven't tasted a cupcake yet, you know I will be back there soon. I did bring my husband home some cotton candy. This is my new favorite place, if only just to look!

If you're in the area, be sure and visit American Cupcake. I promise the eye-candy alone will make you full!

What We Do For Our Four-Legged Friends...

Or... what we make them do for us!

Yesterday was my dog Vito's 10th birthday. Getting into the spirit, I decided to have a party with doggies and adults. For some reason Vito loves Bichons and Havenese, so his close friends were there to celebrate. My friend Lisa generously donated her house for the festivities!

Forgive Vito's bad behavior...

$27 (yes, $27) for an organic dog birthday cake from a dog bakery. Hope they enjoyed it!

little treats for the guests

"Oh, please take these silly hats off of us!"

"Are you kidding me?" -Buster

Speaking of dog parties...I had to share this cute "dessert party" that Kristy of Posh Pixels Design Studio created for her new adopted puppy, Ozzy.

The theme was “Meet the Puppy,” to introduce Ozzy to her family & friends. There was "doggy" food and "people" food.

So beautifully done...

Biscuits & rawhides for the puppies, candy & treats for the humans...

How creative is this?

For the humans...

For the dogs...

Love that party! So talented!

Are we silly? Yes. We love our animals so why not spoil them? They give us so much joy and unconditional love!
