Three-Course Tavern Dinner only $14.50 per person

Our cozy, fire-placed Tavern at the historic Hawthorne Hotel offers specials for dinner on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 5pm – 10pm.  These are usually the perfect kinds of meals for a weeknight, when you just don't want to have to cook and wash dishes.

The specials change each month, and we always offer three different entrees.  We try to make things that fit the season, and we do endeavor to have at least one vegetarian item each month.   Here are the specials for December:
Turkey Pot Pie
roasted turkey, potatoes and vegetable, baked in turkey velouté, topped with a puffy pastry crust

Three-Cheese Manicotti
ricotta, Parmesan and mozzarella cheese, baked with house-made marinara sauce in a casserole

Holiday Salad
pomegranate seeds, crumbled bacon, cranberry cheese, walnuts, tomatoes and cucumber, on a bed of iceberg lettuce with creamy blue cheese dressing

I was able to try all three of these dishes last night, and they were all quite delicious.  I must say my favorite was the Holiday Salad, but I think that is because I just love a nice salad, especially with blue cheese dressing.  Starting the meal off with a hot bowl of house-made soup was just the thing.

In addition to the entree, each three-course dinner comes with a choice of soup or salad, and Chef's choice of dessert.  Last night that choice was New York-style Cheesecake with strawberries.

If you know anyone who might think that the Hawthorne Hotel is not affordable to them, you should certainly share the information about this excellent value dinner special.  I know they will appreciate the tip.

I hope to see you here.

Juli
