Yesterday Nelson Dionne stopped by my office with a gift -- this old postcard of the Hawthorne Hotel. Nelson is a collector of memorabilia, especially of Salem and the North Shore, and he knows about how much we enjoy adding to our archives of things about the Hawthorne.
As you can see, this was likely taken in the 60's, when there was a drugstore on the front corner of the hotel. To be able to see this image more clearly, just click on it to enlarge the photo.
I love the cool old roll-out awnings on the building!
We are very grateful to have Nelson as friend of the hotel.
