Love That Endures

At the Hawthorne Hotel there are a number of us who are in love with the idea of love, especially that kind of love that endures. Today we were so fortunate to be able to meet a couple who had their wedding reception here over 57 years ago.

The terrific part is how much in love they still seem, and you can see it in these photos.

Jim and Ruth Teague, of San Jose, California, were married at the Wesley United Methodist Church on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1953, and had their reception in our Grand Ballroom.

Today, Ruth's younger sister, Barbara LaCombe and her husband Richard, surprised Ruth and Jim by bringing them back to the Hawthorne Hotel for a trip down memory lane, as well as a nice lunch in our Tavern Restaurant. By the way, Barbara was a junior bridesmaid in that wedding, at the tender age of nine.

Their server, Debbie Stephanides found out what they were up to, and let me know so I could take their photos and let the world know about just how happy we are to welcome couples back to the hotel.

Fair blog reader, I hope you enjoy knowing some of these stories about the people who are part of the fabric of our day to day life here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

Congratulations to Ruth and Jim! We look forward to welcoming you back again.
