Another Neighboring Building

#SalemMA

In posting the photos of a neighboring house earlier this week, I was reminded of the fact that one of our closest neighbors, the Salem Witch Museum, does a terrific job of maintaining their building and the grounds around it, even going to the extent of planting and maintaining the island where Salem's founder, Roger Conant stands.

For the past two years they have worked on the masonry, and their big leaded glass window, painstakingly restoring it, and here is the result.

While many, many people think this is a statue of a an early witch, nothing could be farther from the truth.  This is Roger Conant, who is credited with founding the community of Salem, Massachusetts.  I imagine he is one of the most photographed statues in all of the Commonwealth (which is what Massachusetts is -- not a state but a Commonwealth.)

I hope you enjoy this look around our neighborhood.
