Secrets of Hisaronu holidays-hotel

Secrets of Hisaronu holidays-hotel

by Casper da silva

I find it difficult sometimes to offer a correct location description for Hisaronu holidays and its little sister Ovacik, mainly because against the accepted parameters these two holiday villages are both three to five kilometres away from the beach of Olu-Deniz , and the British holidaymakers have always instinctively balked at going to a cheap holiday not situated directly on the beach, which I always found ironic, most Brits congregate around pools with close proximity to a pool bar! I even know some that can't even walk on the beach without feeling, what's that word again, oh yes I believe the word is 'icky'. So it's humouros to think how Cheap Holidays to Hisaronu and Ovacik came into existence, because apart from an old greek ghost town up the road, the only people that live on those mountains are people that live off the land, shepherds tending their goats and those that tend the many olive groves to be found in the area also those who do a bit of fishing in the summer months.
It was only after Olu Deniz came into the fore front and then famously became one of the first eco resorts in the Med banning any new development that the thwarted developers looked upon the hilly incline and plateau a few kilometres from the no-build zone that Hisaronu's genesis begun. It has grown into more of a satellite resort to Oludeniz with small and friendly hotels built in keeping with the strict rules on architecture, Hisaronu holidays were always the poor cousin to Olu Deniz's obvious charms. But then a miracle happened, cheap holidays to Hisaronu started to gain a little unique magic of their own, it was once one of those sleepy holiday resorts that no-one really spent money marketing but gained a reputation, a solid one at that, from simple word of mouth from those satisfied holidaymakers that had stayed there by default simply because their holiday to Olu Deniz had been fully booked so opted for the satellite resort so that they were at least close to the famous beach. Little by little in the last ten years Hisaronu has flourished and expanded its borders, dotted with good quality hotels and apartments, never huge complexes (barring the very new and very modern Green Forest Hotel) it's a stand alone resort that is not dependant on the fame of its world famous cousin Olu Deniz.
So what is the magnetism for new visitors to this well known little holiday resort set away from the beach? Now then, lets take stock, have you ever thought how hot it gets July and August down in the windless beach AKA Olu Deniz? Now let me explain, without doubt you are looking at soaring temperatures reaching the heights of at least 49 degrees in the midday sun, and this is not dry desert heat but damp humid lung filled plutonium chip heat. Hisaronu on the other hand is nicely cooler by at least five to six degrees by virtue of its location; nestled in the pine filled mountains on a plateau three kilometres above sea level with mountain breezes cooling the heated air; it is absolutely has to be the best holiday resorts to be in when you are there in height of summer. In addition around March and April they spray the area and therefore eradicate a large percentage of the mosquito population thus making it not only cooler but also practically mosquito-less, I do say practically, because total annihilation of any species will affect the delicate eco balance of the area, and these are things that, thankfully, are taken into consideration. As for those whose lives are truly incomplete unless they get their shopping-freak-on, Hisaronu is one of those places that truly blesses those touched by the spirit of the retail gods, because every day is shop day. Whether you choose to stay in Hisaronu, or jump on a dolmus for the twenty minute ride down Fethiye or Calis, you truly can shop till you drop, from fashion, to silk woven rugs that are still woven the way they have been woven and hand dyed with natural dyes since rug and carpet trading begun in the area several thousand years ago, jewellery that can be designed for you or by you, Turkish delight of all flavours, coconut, almonds, walnuts and pistachio to name a few, you will be spoilt for choice. If shopping is not your poison and you prefer holding up the bar and swatting away the flies, Hisaronu Holidays have a small wealth of good quality bars, with friendly English speaking bar staff that is well trained in British humour more than apt to holding the attention of even the most notoriously dour and sour. And as for all those beach bunnies out there, the icing on the cake for Hisaronu holidays, is one of the best beaches in the world at your doorstep is only a short dolmus ride away, in four to five minutes you are on Olu Deniz beach soaking up the rays, sipping a cocktail and just letting all your everyday stress and woe evaporate into the turquoise sky above you!
